VOTERS
It has come to my attention that negative emails and letters are being distributed about my campaign promises. Here are my promises and responses.
It’s time for change; new ideas; hard work; new technology. TRUE. There has been extensive automation and huge technological advances made over the past years. I would like to continue by working hard, bringing new ideas and researching new technology to ensure we stay at peak performance for the county.
Better attention to accuracy and details & Better communication between departments. TRUE. Is it wrong to always want to improve how things are done and to make things better?
Bring back old fashioned customer service. TRUE. During my door knocking I talked to thousands of people. One gentleman from Baldwin told me he came to the Register of Deeds Office and wanted help finding information on land and sales. He was shown to a computer and given instruction. Because he only had one completely functional hand he had trouble doing the research. Another lady from the town of Hammond went to the Register of Deeds Office to research historical documents to qualify her farm for the Century Farm Award. She was unable to locate the documents on her own and missed the deadline for her application. These and others asked for better customer service and I promise to make it happen.
Better training & education for all. TRUE. There has been extensive training done in the past. Still, I believe that as technology and information advances that there will be opportunity for better training and education to service the residents of this county.
The Register of Deeds Office does not have information integrated with the Counties land information system. TRUE. There is a link between the sites but not an integration of information between the Register of Deeds documents and the Counties GIS website. As technology continues to improve over the upcoming years I promise to streamline this process in compliance with Wisconsin State Statutes. For example, the GIS website often lists document numbers to support ownership of a parcel. Why can’t we click on the document number and have the system ask if we would like to view and purchase the document and if we respond yes it goes thru the same sales process as is currently being used without having to rekey all the information into an entirely different system thru a link? It’s all about progress and making things easier for the residents and businesses of St. Croix County.
Finally, my resume states that I was a Senior Real Estate Clerk from 1992-2006 and yet this title was not approved until 2004. THE TRUTH. When I first drafted my resume and website for this election I had my title listed as Deputy Register of Deeds. When my opponent’s website went on-line she listed her job title as the title approved in 2004 and did not represent her title as it changed thru the years. I changed my title to the 2004 title so the voters would be able to compare us fairly. In the past two weeks the opponent I beat fairly in the September 9th primary changed her website job title and I have therefore requested a change in my own website.
I will admit these facts are TRUE. These facts are HONEST. These facts are POSITIVE.
I did not dream these things up these are concerns that citizens and business owners asked for when I knocked on thousands of doors. My campaign promises are honest and offer hope for a better and improved future. If my promises offend anyone they should question themselves not me.
Everyone makes campaign promises and I will keep mine. It will take hard work and dedication but I will prevail and with your help we will do it together.
